Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement
Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) is a condition of participation in the Hospice Medicare/Medicaid program (§418.58). The Hospice’s QAPI program must be a complete data-driven evaluation of the agency’s performance. Additionally, the QAPI Program must include Performance Improvement activities that focus on high risk, high volume, or problem-prone areas (§418.58 (c)).
DAE Consultants are well versed in developing a QAPI program specific to the Hospice agency’s environment of care. Our team of clinical consultants can take on the role of your QAPI program manager. We will perform the monitoring of your QAPI program according to your agency’s policies. DAE will perform chart reviews to evaluate the delivery of care and services, analyze data collected, identify high risk, high volume, or potential problem areas, track and trend infections, sentinel events, and other areas as identified. Our unique audit tools allow us to develop reports of outcomes measured, host your quarterly QAPI committee meetings, educate your selected team members on CMS requirements to support reimbursement. Additional services may include onsite Mock Surveys as requested. We recognize that many agencies use current staff to perform the QAPI portion of their program, but not to the extent that is required by CMS. DAE can provide that service to you without having the overhead of paying a full-time employee.
